"The function of the child is to live his own life - not the life that his anxious parents think he should live, not a life according to the purpose of the educator who thinks he knows best."

STANDING EGGS

5 February 2012, Sunday
Min trying hard to stand the egg.
It was Lichun (立春) yesterday.  It is believed that one can 'stand an egg' at mid day on Lichun.  A few friends of mine were posting photos of their 'standing eggs'.  As I wanted to prove that this game of egg standing can be done on any other day of the year, I bought some eggs back today to play the game.

My experiment on the standing eggs game, 2 years back... "standing eggs - myth busted".
Zhen managed to stand an egg, after several attempts.

Lee Zhen: "This is the way I write my name... My mummy says put my finger for spacing... there's my finger... :D"

LION DANCE

14th February 2010, (虎年, 年初一), Sunday Morning
A few days before CNY, I showed Zhen some images and videos of lion dances and dragon dances via youtube.

On the 1st day of CNY, there was lion dance in the neighbourhood, and Zhen's little cousin, Qi Qi, was so eager to go out and watch...

That's when I heard Zhen told Qi Qi, "Don't worry, we can watch afterwards, we can also watch it from the internet!"  ;D

WRITING CHINESE

12th October 2009, Monday Night
While doing her homework, Zhen had all the strokes wrong, in writing her Chinese characters. Hence I corrected her on. She still made the same mistakes after that.

Me: Girl, you’ve got the strokes all wrong!

Zhen: Never mind, mummy, the teacher won’t know…
