"The function of the child is to live his own life - not the life that his anxious parents think he should live, not a life according to the purpose of the educator who thinks he knows best."
~ A.S. Neill, founder of Summerhill School.

COUNTDOWN 2012

31 December 2011, Saturday
Family Countdown Festival 2012!  The girls had their 1st new year countdown at a water theme park, the Sunway Lost World of Tambun, Perak.
Zhen on stage with the clown
One of the program for the night was a magic show by one clown.  Zhen wanted badly to be called on stage to assist the clown.  She walked to as near as possible to the stage, raised her hands as high as possible and shouted as loud as she could.  She managed to get the clown's attention and was called up stage to assist him with one performance.  She came down smiling all over!

KUALA WOH, TAPAH, PERAK

3 December 2011, Saturday
A friend together with her family visited us today.  We went to Kuala Woh to have a dip.
Kuala Woh is  a recreational forest park at the foothills of Cameron Highlands.  Shallow river flows through the park, with a subterranean hot spring that heats up a small section of the sandy river bed.
The children enjoyed themselves at the river, collecting stones and burying feet.

IN THE LIBRARY

26 November 2011, Saturday
I try to bring the girls to the local library on Saturdays.  They just love being there... with lots of story books...

The younger one will ask her elder sister to read for her.

IN THE KITCHEN...

10 April 2012, Tuesday
It's Wednesday tomorrow and we were preparing the
"guīlínggāo" (龜苓膏) for tomorrow's dana.  The girls helped in making one of their favourite dessert.
NOTE:
Dana (Pali/Sanskrit) ~ the practice of giving; generosity.  Dana is one of the essential preliminary steps of Buddhist practice.  When practiced in itself, it is a basis of merit or wholesome kamma.  When coupled with morality, concentration and insight, it leads ultimately to liberation from samsara, the cycle of repeated existence.
