"The function of the child is to live his own life - not the life that his anxious parents think he should live, not a life according to the purpose of the educator who thinks he knows best."

CHEN-XIANG, 沉香, (AGARWOOD/GAHARU) PLANTATION, GOPENG, PERAK

2nd May 2011, Monday
Our plan is to visit a muzium in Gopeng but it was closed.  We asked the locals where else shall we visit in Gopeng and they told us about this place ~ The Great Wall of Gopeng.  It is an Agarwood/Gaharu/Chen-Xiang (沉香) Plantation.

Visiting hours is from 9am-6pm daily.

For the view of the Gaharu valley and hugging the trunk of an old Gaharu tree which is believed to be auspicious, one can purchase the shuttle bus ticket from the shop's counter at RM10/pax.
This Gaharu tree is 19-year old and is 50 feet tall.
This Gaharu tree is full of bird's nests.  According to our guide, this tree is standing at a slope, thus these 'clever' little birds (Murai Kampung/Magpie Robin) chose it to build their nest.

MUSICAL GLASSES

27th March 2011, Sunday morning
Tried 'Musical Glasses' experiment with Zhen.  I showed Zhen 3 glasses of water, with different amount of water and explained to her that each of the glasses will have a different tone when hit with a chopstick.

Min wants to play some music too!
I left her with 8 empty glasses, 2 small bottle of water for about 30 minutes, to 'invent' her  muscial notes.  When I returned, she had lined up all the 8 glasses, fill them with different amounts of water.  The first with just a little water while the last almost full, and the ones in between slightly more than the last.  HEY, SHE'S GOT IT!

She even sang a few songs with her musical glasses!
